Every Day Counts – Supporting School Attendance
New data from Tusla Education Support Services (TESS) shows that one in five children in primary and post-primary school are missing a month or more of their school year.
While attendance rates are improving, they remain significantly below pre-pandemic levels.
To address this, TESS and the Department of Education and Youth have launched a national multimedia campaign to highlight the importance of regular school attendance.
The campaign reinforces a simple but powerful message:
“When a child can go to school – they should go to school.”
Regular attendance helps children:
  • Build strong learning habits
  • Stay connected with teachers and friends
  • Develop confidence and routine
Support for Parents and Schools
