Zambia Immersion Project 2025 – Applications Closed

Following on from our very successful Immersion Project in summer 2023 and in keeping with our ethos of helping those less fortunate than ourselves, we are currently in the process of organising an Immersion Project to Zambia for the current 3rd Year and Transition Year cohorts. This is an exciting opportunity provided to a small group of students who will immerse themselves into a different culture and volunteer in Zambia in June 2025.

Since 2006, our school has taken part in this project. Students and staff have helped hospices, taught and interacted with local students and contributed to the building of a school run by ZAMDA Ireland. This time, students will fundraise throughout the 2024/25 academic year for the continued development of a school called Sables Nua in a developing community in Kabwe, Zambia.

It is essential that those who are wanting to travel are committed and hard-working. Students who are interested in being involved in the project are asked to complete the attached interest form and put it in the post box outside Ms. Martin’s guidance office or give it to Mr. S McMahon in room 5 before 13:45 on Friday March 8th. We are expecting to have a large number of students interested and therefore it may be required to shortlist and hold interviews to select the right candidates.

Given the current economic climate, it is difficult to put a cost on the project, however it is projected to be in the region of €2,200-2,500. Students will be expected to earn/fundraise part of this money themselves. More information will be provided to the successful candidates.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us on our school emails.

On behalf of Conor Byrne, Christine Martin, Emma Goff, & Steven McMahon,

Kind regards,

Michael McMahon,

Principal.
